2027: Ebonyi moves to host political heavyweights, adopt Tinubu for second term bid
The Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded arrangements to host a major political gathering on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, where the party will formally adopt President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office.
The event is expected to draw political heavyweights, party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters from across Ebonyi State and beyond, in what officials describe as a unified show of support for the President’s administration.
Briefing journalists in Abakaliki, the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barrister Ikeuwa Omebeh, said the planned adoption ceremony reflects the position of the party in the state under the leadership of Governor Francis Nwifuru.
He said the decision was informed by the APC’s assessment of the Tinubu administration’s performance in areas such as infrastructure development, economic reforms, and social intervention programmes.
According to him, Ebonyi State has benefited from several federal initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda, including road construction projects, housing interventions, and empowerment schemes targeting youths, women, and farmers.
He also cited appointments of Ebonyi indigenes into various federal positions as part of what the party considers inclusive governance and recognition of the state’s contributions to national development.
The commissioner added that the forthcoming event would serve as a platform for the Ebonyi APC family to formally reaffirm its confidence in President Tinubu and endorse his second-term ambition.
Political stakeholders, party members, and supporters are expected to attend the rally in large numbers, with the party expressing confidence that the event will demonstrate unity and strength within the APC structure in the state.
The party urged residents to support the programme, describing it as a significant political milestone in the state’s engagement with national leadership ahead of future electoral processes.
