Weeks of speculations in Eket/Esit Eket/Onna/Ibeno Federal Constituency on who will fly the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag in the 2027 General Elections have been brought to a definite end with the confirmation of Dr. Eunice Thomas as the party’s candidate by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The affirmation followed the decision earlier today, June 30, 2026, by the electoral body to issue her its nomination form, alongside other candidates of the party that won the party primaries on May 16, 2026.

Dr. Thomas, it would be recalled won the votes of party members overwhelmingly across the four local government areas of the Federal Constituency.

Constituents have yet again expressed delight with the development, and have maintained optimism that the constituency will begin to witness an era of progression in communal growth and human development with Eunice Thomas as their representative.

Dr. Thomas is a former Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, and Education, respectively, in Akwa Ibom State. She has also served on the Board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) as Non Executive Director.

Until her decision to seek election, she was the Federal Commissioner representing Akwa Ibom State on the Board of the Federal Character Commission (FCC).

She brings a wealth of public service experience to the 2027 electoral conversation.
