At the time of Akpabio’s arrival, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, was reportedly meeting with the President.

The meeting between Tinubu and Akpabio came just hours before the official commencement of campaigns for the 2027 general elections on Wednesday, August 19, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The timing of the meeting has drawn attention given the heightened political activities ahead of the 2027 elections and the increasing realignment among political parties and prominent political figures.

However, it remained unclear whether Tuesday’s meeting focused on legislative matters, the administration’s political strategy, preparations for the 2027 campaign season, or other issues of national importance.
