2026 Polo season: APC chieftain lauds Radda, Katsina emir for promoting culture, sports

The National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barr Murtala Kankia, has commended Governor Dikko Radda for his commitment to the preservation culture and sports development in Katsina State.

Kankia also praised the Emir of Katsina, His Royal Highness, Dr. Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, for his efforts in preserving the emirate’s historical and cultural values.

Speaking while extending goodwill greetings to participants in the 2026 polo season, the APC NLA said Governor Radda’s support for sports was creating opportunities for young athletes and sustaining sporting activities in the state.

He noted that investment in sports goes beyond competition, adding that it promotes youth development, discipline, unity, and positive engagement.

“Sports remains a veritable tool for engaging our youth and projecting the image of our state,” Kankia said.

The legal adviser also lauded the Emir of Katsina for sustaining the traditions and values of the emirate, describing the preservation of cultural heritage as a critical responsibility for both present and future generations.

According to him, the combination of sports development and cultural preservation strengthens the identity of Katsina State and ensures its heritage remains relevant to younger generations.

Kankia particularly wished players participating in the 2026 polo competitions a safe and successful season and he urged them to demonstrate sportsmanship and uphold the spirit of fair play.

His remarks came amid growing efforts by governments and traditional institutions across Nigeria to leverage sports and culture to promote tourism, preserve heritage, and deepen community engagement.

The APC chieftain said sustained investment in sports, alongside the protection of historical values, would continue to enhance the development and visibility of Katsina State.
