APC’s Halilu Wins Nasarawa North Senatorial By-Election

June 21 () — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Barrister Danladi Halilu Envulu-Anza of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Nasarawa North Senatorial District by-election.

The Returning Officer for the election, Professor Aminu Ali, announced the result on Sunday at the College of Education, Akwanga, after the collation of votes from the five local government areas that make up the senatorial district.

According to the official results announced by INEC, Barrister Danladi Halilu Envulu-Anza of the APC secured 45,362 votes to emerge the winner of the by-election.

The Labour Party candidate, Labaran Maku, polled 12,931 votes to place second, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Emmanuel David Ombugadu, garnered 11,331 votes. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Mohammed Stephen Alaku, scored 4,244 votes, while Arc. Ishaya Dubai Dodo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) secured 1,496 votes.

Professor Aminu Ali, while declaring the result, stated that Barrister Halilu having scored the highest number of valid votes cast, was duly elected as Senator representing Nasarawa North Senatorial District.
