FSA Course 18 Honours Nigeria’s Ambassador to Malaysia
Members of the 18th Regular Course of the Nigerian Foreign Service Academy (FSA) have honoured Nigeria’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Ambassador Ahmed Olatunji Sulu-Gambari, at a farewell dinner held in recognition of his appointment and distinguished career in the nation’s diplomatic service.
The event, held at Ibeto Hotels, Abuja, brought together serving and retired diplomats, senior government officials, colleagues, friends and family members to celebrate the envoy, who is also concurrently accredited to Brunei Darussalam.
Speaking on behalf of the 18th Regular Course, former Nigerian Ambassador to Cuba, Ambassador Ben Okoyen, described Sulu-Gambari’s appointment as well deserved, citing his professionalism, humility and commitment to national service.
He expressed confidence that the Ambassador would further strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic and economic ties with Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam while advancing the country’s foreign policy objectives.
In his remarks, Ambassador Sulu-Gambari thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the confidence reposed in him through the appointment. He also expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, the Permanent Secretary and senior colleagues, for their support and guidance throughout his career.
The Ambassador pledged to uphold Nigeria’s national interest by promoting stronger bilateral relations with Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam, assuring that he would discharge his responsibilities with professionalism, integrity and dedication.
Also speaking, Nigeria’s High Commissioner-designate to India, Ambassador Saidu Dahiru Mohammed, described the appointment as a fitting recognition of Ambassador Sulu-Gambari’s years of dedicated service in the Nigerian Foreign Service. He urged him to continue projecting Nigeria’s image positively and wished him a successful diplomatic tenure.
The ceremony featured goodwill messages from distinguished guests, the presentation of a commemorative plaque, special recognitions, group photographs and a reception attended by diplomats, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the 18th Regular Course of the Foreign Service Academy and family members of the Ambassador.
