A Nigerian man has sparked widespread debate on social media after revealing that he is divorcing his wife, alleging that she refused to contribute ₦24,000 towards their daughter’s hospital treatment despite having more than ₦600,000 in her bank account.

Speaking during an appearance on TheJusticeCourt, the man recounted an incident in which he was stranded at the hospital while seeking urgent medical care for their daughter because he had no money on him at the time.

According to him, he had always taken responsibility for providing for the family, ensuring there was food on the table and that other household needs were met despite his unstable source of income.

Recounting the incident, he said:

“We were in the hospital with my daughter, and I didn’t have money. I had to wait for my brother, who wasn’t in Nigeria, to send me money. A day before, I had even struggled to send her money for food at work.”

The man said he never considered asking his wife for financial assistance because he had always handled the family’s expenses. However, he claimed he was devastated when he later discovered she had more than ₦600,000 saved in her account.

According to him, what hurt him most was that she allegedly declined to assist with the hospital bill despite having the means to do so.

“When I later discovered she had more than ₦600,000 in her account, I was shocked. It wasn’t even up to 24hrs she bought another phone for ₦319,000 after I seized her old one.”

He said the incident led to a confrontation between them and ultimately influenced his decision to end the marriage.
