“You Are Raising A Monster”- Nigerian Lady Sparks Debate Over Gentle Parenting

A Nigerian lady has sparked a heated conversation online after sharing her strong opinion on the issue of child discipline and gentle parenting.

In a statement circulating on social media, the woman argued that parents should not be the only people permitted to correct or discipline their children.

She said, “If you believe no one should discipline your child except you, you are raising a m0nster,” a remark that has since generated mixed reactions among social media users.

Her comment appears to challenge a growing parenting approach that encourages adults to be more intentional about how they correct children, particularly by avoiding harsh punishment and physical discipline.

According to her perspective, allowing trusted adults to correct a child when necessary could help instil discipline, respect and a sense of responsibility. She suggested that children should not be shielded from every form of correction simply because their parents are present.

The statement has, however, divided opinions online. While some people agreed with her, arguing that children benefit from guidance and correction from responsible adults, others strongly disagreed.
