ASTOPU, Aba Zonal Chairman, Hon. Victor Azubuike Urges Men to Prioritize Mental Health, Celebrates Fathers’ Sacrifices
The Chairman of the Abia State Tricycle Operators Union (ASTOPU), Aba Zone, Hon. Victor Azubuike, has called on men across the country to prioritize their mental and emotional well-being as the world marks the end of Men’s Mental Health Week alongside Father’s Day celebrations on June 21, 2026.
In a goodwill message issued on Sunday, the ASTOPU Chairman paid glowing tribute to fathers, husbands, brothers, sons, and hardworking members of society, particularly tricycle operators who continue to shoulder enormous responsibilities amid prevailing economic and social challenges.
Hon. Azubuike noted that while men are often regarded as providers, protectors, and leaders, many silently endure emotional, financial, and psychological pressures without adequate support or understanding.
According to him, Men’s Mental Health Week serves as an important reminder that true strength is not measured by the ability to endure hardship in silence, but by the courage to seek help, express concerns, and prioritize personal well-being.
He commended the resilience of men who make daily sacrifices to provide for their families, describing fathers as the unsung heroes whose dedication, discipline, and love continue to shape future generations and strengthen society.
The ASTOPU Chairman specifically acknowledged the contributions of tricycle operators who brave difficult working conditions every day to earn an honest living and support their loved ones. He emphasized that their commitment and determination remain critical to the economic activities and development of communities across Abia State.
Highlighting the significance of this year’s message, Hon. Azubuike encouraged men not to be overwhelmed by life’s challenges but to focus on steady progress and personal growth.
He stressed that every man deserves peace of mind, good health, happiness, and support, urging fathers and community leaders to foster environments where open conversations about mental health can take place without stigma or fear.
The union leader further called on men to continue serving as positive role models within their families and communities by promoting values of love, understanding, responsibility, and mutual support.
He also offered words of encouragement to men facing difficult circumstances, assuring them that setbacks and disappointments are temporary and should not define their future aspirations.
As Father’s Day celebrations coincide with the conclusion of Men’s Mental Health Week, Hon. Azubuike reaffirmed ASTOPU Aba Zone’s commitment to the welfare of its members and encouraged all men to remain hopeful, resilient, and focused on building stronger families and a better society.
He concluded by wishing fathers and men across Abia State and beyond a peaceful, healthy, and fulfilling Father’s Day celebration while praying for divine strength, wisdom, and blessings upon them.
The message has been widely welcomed by members of the union and residents who described it as timely, inspiring, and a strong advocacy for men’s mental health awareness and family values.
