Taylor Swift Honored as Youngest Woman in Songwriters Hall of Fame at New York Ceremony

June 12, (THEWILL) — Taylor Swift has been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, becoming the youngest woman ever to receive the honor.

The singer accepted the award at a ceremony in New York on June 11 and reflected on her songwriting journey and career.

“If I look back at my entire 23-year career in music … songwriting was the easiest thing I ever did,” Swift said.

She added: “When I say that songwriting was the easiest part for me, I think what I mean is that it was instinctual. No one taught me how to do it.”

During her speech, she thanked her family for supporting her career and moving from Pennsylvania to Nashville when she was young.

The event also featured a tribute performance by rising singer-songwriter Sombr, who performed Swift’s songs “Cardigan” and “Dear John.”

The honor comes 20 years after the release of “Tim McGraw,” the debut single that launched Swift’s recording career in 2006.

Swift joins the Songwriters Hall of Fame’s 2026 class alongside artists including Alanis Morissette, Kenny Loggins, and members of KISS.

At 36 years old, Swift is the second-youngest inductee in the organization’s history, behind only Stevie Wonder, who was inducted at age 32 in 1983.

Closing her speech, Swift encouraged young songwriters to stay confident in their work despite criticism.

“You can be sensitive but also durable,” she said. “Take what’s useful and constructive and leave out what’s damaging to your creativity.”
