It is the first clinic established by any faculty within the university and will serve students and staff of both the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Creative Arts.

Speaking at the event, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Akanbi Mudasiru Ilupeju, said the clinic was conceived to address health challenges that often affect students during examinations and to provide easy access to medical care for academic and non-academic staff.

University officials said the clinic will run from Monday to Friday with a resident doctor and nurse on standby to attend to patients. It will deliver quality health and wellness services exclusively to members of the two faculties.

The faculty management urged all eligible students and staff to register for services at the centre.

The Faculty of Arts also thanked the Chief Medical Director of Cityview Hospital, Dr. Mutiu Gbolahan Oladapo Shittu, and his team for partnering on the project, describing the collaboration as a strong commitment to student and staff welfare.

National Social Secretary of the UNILAG Alumni Association, Francis Shonubi, described the commissioning as a landmark event for the university.

“Today is a historic moment for all of us as we gather for the official grand opening of the Cityview Hospital Faculty of Arts Clinic, the first of its kind in the University of Lagos,” Shonubi said.

He noted that the facility was designed to meet the growing demand for accessible healthcare within the academic environment, adding that prompt medical attention will help students sustain academic performance and support staff wellbeing.

According to him, the clinic will operate weekdays with a dedicated medical team and will focus on preventive and primary healthcare for both faculties. He encouraged students and staff to enrol and make use of the services.

Shonubi also commended Dr. Shittu and Cityview Hospital for supporting the initiative, saying the partnership reflects a shared commitment to health and wellness in the university community.
