Parents, Schools Raise Alarm Over New Peppermint Cigarettes/Drugs In Benin Schools, 30 Schools Fingered As Miscreants Introduce Heavy-Smoke Peppermint Drug
There is growing concern in Benin City, Edo State, over the alleged introduction of a new illicit substance into reputable schools by miscreants suspected to be school dropouts.
Reports indicate that the substance, disguised as peppermint, is said to emit heavy smoke when inhaled and is now allegedly being circulated among students in several secondary schools in Benin City.

No fewer than thirty schools in Edo State have been fingered as being affected by the circulation of the substance, which is reportedly being marketed to students as ordinary peppermint.
Speaking to journalists in Benin City, the Director of Divine Favour Global Schools, Benin City, Edo State, Aunty Omo, said though her school is not involved in the nefarious activities, there is an urgent need to sensitize students against involvement.
Aunty Omo said Divine Favour Global Schools has remained one of the most disciplined and academically excellent schools in the state, recalling that the school was recently certified among thirteen schools as well-behaved and first in academics.
According to her, the school was founded a few years ago with qualified academic teachers and non-teaching staff, with its foundation anchored on Christian values, discipline and academic excellence.

“We are calling on parents to partner with the school management to ensure the best for our students at all costs. The future of our children must not be destroyed by miscreants,” she added.
Parents and stakeholders have also called on security agencies and the Edo State Government to investigate the circulation of the substance and bring perpetrators to book.
