Court Adjourns Case Involving Two Minors
The matter in Suit No. SU/NI/362/2026, involving two minors, Chijindu Chimakpam and Chukwuebuka Divine, was brought before the Magistrates’ High Court in Umuahia, Abia state recently.
The case was a continuation of a previous matter involving the two minors, who were represented in court by their counsel, H. K. Jude.
Appearing on behalf of the minors, H. K. Jude informed the court that the persons she was representing were underage. She stated that one of the minors was 17 years old, adding that his mother had been contacted and informed that a birth certificate was required to clarify his age.
Counsel further explained that the mother had been informed about the date of the proceedings and that the matter was scheduled before the court. She said the mother was not fully prepared and sought the court’s permission to apply for the necessary document.

H. K. Jude also informed the court that information concerning the case had already been entered. She explained that obtaining the birth certificate would assist in establishing the minor’s age and provide the necessary evidence for the court to properly consider the matter.
The judge informed counsel that the case had already been entered and that the relevant evidence, particularly the birth certificate, would be required to establish the minor’s age.
Counsel subsequently applied for a short period to obtain the necessary information and present a copy to the court.
The judge granted the request and directed that the relevant document be produced before the court.

The matter was thereafter adjourned to October for further proceedings.
