ECOWAS COMMISSION PRESIDENT RECEIVES WEST AFRICAN COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS DELEGATION AHEAD OF 50TH ANNIVERSARY
H.E. General Birame Diop, President of the ECOWAS Commission, received a delegation from the West African College of Physicians (WACP), led by Professor Akin Moses, at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, 20th October 2026.
The delegation invited President Diop to participate in the College’s 50th anniversary celebrations, which commence on Sunday, 25 October 2026, with the unveiling of the anniversary plaque, followed by a week of activities. The President is expected to chair a symposium on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, to examine the College’s impact on the lives of ECOWAS citizens.
During the meeting, President Diop called for strengthened collaboration between the Commission and the College, particularly in establishing an efficient and effective in-house hospital and supporting the training and capacity development of medical personnel.The engagement underscores the importance of regional partnerships in strengthening healthcare delivery and professional medical training across West Africa.
