Residents Raise Alarm Over Alleged Criminal Activities, Brothel Operations At Omobude Street In Benin City, Seek Police Intervention, Power Restoration After Transformer Vandalism
Residents of Omobude Street, off Aunty Maria Road, off Siluko Road in Benin City, Edo State, have raised concern over alleged activities of suspected cultists, hoodlums and commercial sex workers in their area.

According to residents, who spoke with our Correspondent on condition of anonymity for fear of attack, suspected persons allegedly troop into a residential building in the area mostly at night, thereby causing fear and insecurity among other tenants and neighbours.
The residents alleged that the activities have turned the residential house into a suspected brothel, where different strange faces come in at night especially with their leader, one Blessing

He disclosed that the management of the house is already taking steps to issue quit notice to some occupants whose alleged conducts are disturbing the peace of other tenants.
“We have received several complaints. We are not happy with what is happening. We are going to give them quit notice to vacate the house,” the caretaker said.
Reacting to the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, said police detectives will investigate the complaints from residents.
The PPRO said though no arrest has been made yet, the police will look into the matter and ensure that anyone found wanting is brought to book.
Meanwhile, residents also lamented that the area has been in darkness for over six months following alleged vandalization of the transformer serving the community.
They said the blackout has worsened insecurity in the area, as hoodlums operate under the cover of darkness.
They therefore appealed to the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) and relevant authorities to restore power supply to the area and to the security agencies to increase patrol in the area, especially at night.
