July 22 , (THEWILL) — Jeff Bezos is considering a possible investment in Liverpool after being approached by a group of investors pursuing a minority stake in the Premier League club.
The consortium, headed by former Queens Park Rangers co-owner Amit Bhatia, is understood to be exploring ways to strengthen its financial backing as discussions continue with Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG).
Bezos, one of the world’s wealthiest businessmen, has held preliminary talks with the group but has not committed to joining the bid.
Backed by the family of Indian steel billionaire Lakshmi Mittal, the consortium is seeking a strategic investment rather than a full takeover of the Merseyside club.
Liverpool’s owners acknowledged the interest, with an FSG spokesperson confirming that Bhatia’s group has expressed a desire to acquire a minority shareholding in the club.

The proposed transaction is reported to value Liverpool at more than $6 billion (£4.5 billion), reflecting the club’s continued rise in commercial value and global influence.
Bhatia recently stepped away from his involvement at Championship side Queens Park Rangers, transferring his ownership stake to Ruben Gnanalingam.
The decision is widely viewed as part of his preparations to focus on the Liverpool opportunity.
Fenway Sports Group, led by John Henry, has owned Liverpool since purchasing the club in 2010 for £300 million.
During its stewardship, the Reds have enjoyed one of the most successful periods in their history, winning the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup while also expanding the club’s commercial reach.
Although discussions remain at an early stage and no agreement has been reached, Bezos’ participation would add enormous financial muscle to the consortium.
With an estimated fortune of around $257 billion, the Amazon founder would become one of the highest-profile investors linked with an English football club if he chooses to proceed.
For now, there has been no public indication from Bezos regarding whether he intends to join the investment group as negotiations continue.
