Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has reacted to the controversy surrounding the family of late gospel singer Toluwanising, calling for compassion and privacy as his loved ones mourn his death.

In a social media post, the actress questioned the growing tendency to turn personal tragedies and family disagreements into public entertainment, stressing that grieving families deserve time and space to process their loss.
Aigbe expressed sadness over the death of the young singer, who reportedly left behind a grieving wife and two young children. She also criticised bloggers for conducting interviews amid the family’s grief, noting that such actions could further fuel tensions between the bereaved wife and her late husband’s relatives.
According to the actress, not every painful situation needs to be made public, especially when those directly affected are still struggling to come to terms with their loss.
She wrote:
Every second brings Nigerians closer to exercising their democratic right and shaping the future of our nation.
Exercise your democratic right responsibly, peacefully and lawfully.
“Not every tragedy needs an audience.
Sometimes, people need the space to grieve.
Channel
Have we lost our sense of humanity? What happened to compassion?
A young man has died in his prime, leaving behind a grieving wife and two very young children.
At a time when this family should be allowed to grieve in peace, clout-chasing bloggers are conducting interviews that only seem to fuel the conflict between the bereaved wife and her husband’s family.
Must everything become content? Must every family disagreement become public entertainment?
A woman has just lost her husband. Two children have lost their father.
Whatever disagreements exist, can we allow this family some dignity and privacy to navigate their grief?
Not every situation needs a microphone.
Not every conflict needs an audience.
And not every tragedy should become an opportunity for engagement.
Sometimes, the most humane thing you can do is put the camera down.”
The actress’s remarks have drawn attention to the importance of respecting the privacy of bereaved families, particularly when disagreements arise following the death of a loved one.
Her message emphasised that while public interest may surround a celebrity’s death, the people left behind still deserve the opportunity to mourn without unnecessary media attention.
