The Grammy Award-winning rapper backed defending champions Argentina to beat Spain in Sunday’s final.
He placed the bet through betting platform, Stake, with a possible payout of more than $5.1 million if Argentina had won in normal time.
Instead, the match finished 0-0 after 90 minutes before Ferran Torres scored the winning goal in extra time to give Spain their second FIFA World Cup title and hand Drake another betting loss.
The result has once again brought back talk about the so-called “Drake curse,” an internet theory that teams or athletes supported by the rapper often go on to lose. Although there is no proof that the theory is true, it often trends online whenever Drake places a major sports bet.

Drake’s Betting Record
