Army Declares Soldier Wanted Over Alleged Sale of Military Uniforms to Terrorists

The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps has declared a soldier, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over his alleged involvement in the illegal sale and supply of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.

In a statement, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, Major Oluwatope Aluko, said preliminary investigations revealed that Amutu, who was serving at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, absconded from his unit on June 3, 2026.

The Army said the appropriate authorities have declared him wanted, while efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend him for comprehensive investigation and possible disciplinary action in line with military laws.

The Corps reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct, indiscipline and any act capable of undermining the operational effectiveness and integrity of the Nigerian Army or threatening national security.

It warned that any personnel found to have aided terrorists, criminals or other non-state actors through the unauthorised sale, diversion or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements or other controlled items would face the full weight of military and civil laws.

The Army appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist in the arrest of the wanted soldier.

It urged anyone with useful information to report immediately to the nearest military formation or any security agency.

The Corps also reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, professionalism and the protection of military assets, assuring that allegations of misconduct would be thoroughly investigated and personnel found culpable held accountable.
