JIGAWA: Police Probe Hotel Death of 60-Year-Old Man Found With 20-Year-Old Woman

The Jigawa State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the death of a 60-year-old man who reportedly suffered a medical emergency at a hotel in Dutse while in the company of a 20-year-old woman.

The incident occurred on Tuesday and was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam.

According to the police, the deceased had checked into the hotel with the woman before he reportedly developed breathing difficulties shortly after ordering a meal.

Officers from the Yalwawa Police Division responded to a distress call and took the man to the General Hospital in Dutse, where medical personnel pronounced him dead.

Following the incident, police detectives secured the hotel room and recovered food items, beverages, a suspected sexual enhancement substance and other personal belongings. The items have been taken for forensic examination as part of efforts to establish the cause and circumstances of the man’s death.

Shiisu said the police followed due investigative procedures to preserve evidence at the scene. He added that the deceased’s remains were later released to his family for burial after medical certification and the completion of necessary official procedures.

The police spokesperson also said the 20-year-old woman who was with the deceased at the time of the incident is cooperating with investigators and providing information that could help reconstruct the events leading to the man’s death.

The Commissioner of Police assured residents that the investigation would be conducted thoroughly, professionally and impartially.

He also urged members of the public to avoid speculation and the circulation of unverified information that could interfere with the ongoing investigation.

“The Command remains committed to uncovering the facts surrounding the incident, and further information will be made available as the investigation progresses,” Shiisu stated.
