Abia State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has assured the Federal Information Centre in Abia State of the State Government’s support in addressing its office accommodation challenge.
Governor Otti gave the assurance on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, when the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Dr. Binyerem Ukaire, led a delegation from the Ministry on a courtesy visit to him at his office.

Gov. Otti reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to cooperation with Federal agencies operating in the State.
The Governor, who said his administration is committed to restoring dignity to the people through infrastructural renewal and good governance, expressed appreciation for the Ministry’s support in projecting the modest achievements of Abia State to audiences across the country and beyond.
“We came to change the Abia story, and bring dignity to our people in terms of infrastructural renewal and, of course, governance. So, I am glad that the world is noticing our modest efforts, and I would like to thank you for your support.
“We also want to assure you that your request, which you have committed to writing, will be favourably considered,” Gov. Otti said.
Every second brings Nigerians closer to exercising their democratic right and shaping the future of our nation.
Exercise your democratic right responsibly, peacefully and lawfully.
The State Chief Executive reiterated that his administration does not discriminate between Federal and State institutions, noting that the ultimate beneficiaries of government policies and projects are the people living in the State.
“We don’t discriminate between Federal agencies and State agencies. Neither do we discriminate between Federal projects and State projects because, at the end of the day, the beneficiaries are the people living in the State,” Gov. Otti stated.

Gov. Otti further stressed his administration’s inclusive approach to governance, declaring that everyone residing in Abia deserves equal consideration, irrespective of their State of origin.
“We also do not have non-indigenes. The policy does not work here. Everybody who lives here is from here, and that is the way it should be,” the Governor added.
The Governor directed the Commissioner for Information to work with the relevant authorities to identify suitable office accommodation for the Federal Information Centre, noting that the Permanent Secretary had provided useful suggestions on possible locations.
Governor Otti cited the State Government’s interventions in Federal institutions, including the Nigerian Navy College of Accounts and Finance, Owerrinta, where projects were recently commissioned, and the Nigerian Air Force facility in Abia, which the State Government acquired, renovated and equipped, as evidence of its commitment to intergovernmental cooperation.
The Governor congratulated Dr. Ukaire on her appointment as Federal Permanent Secretary, describing her as a daughter of the State and assuring her of the Government’s goodwill and support.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Dr. Binyerem Ukaire, praised Governor Otti’s efforts in public sector reforms, infrastructure renewal, road construction, environmental management, healthcare, education, workers’ welfare, pension obligations and public financial management, among others.
She particularly highlighted the Nnenna Otti Bus Terminal and the introduction of electric buses as initiatives reflecting the Government’s development priorities.
The Federal Permanent Secretary commended Governor Otti’s administration for maintaining a cordial working relationship with the Federal Information Centre in Abia State, particularly through the Centre’s participation in the Government House Press Corps activities and coverages, which enable the Centre to document and publicise Government policies, programmes and achievements to audiences across Nigeria and beyond through the Ministry’s official information platforms.
She equally expressed gratitude to Governor Otti for the goodwill extended to her following her appointment as Federal Permanent Secretary representing the South-East geopolitical zone, describing the position as a significant milestone in her federal public service career and an opportunity to contribute to national development.
Dr. Ukaire, however, drew the Governor’s attention to the lack of accommodation for the Federal Information Centre, explaining that the situation affects the operational efficiency of its personnel, and appealed to the State Government to assist the Centre through the allocation of a suitable Government-owned facility, available office space or another feasible arrangement.
She assured the Governor that the Federal Information Centre would continue to promote accurate, timely, impartial and responsible information dissemination, public enlightenment, national unity and effective communication of Government policies and development initiatives in the public interest.
The Federal Permanent Secretary was accompanied by the Head of the Federal Information Centre, Mrs. Gloria Abiakam, while some Abia State Government officials, including the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu; media aides of the Governor; and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Sir Chris Onwuegbu, were present at the visit.
