Demand For Justice And Empathy Statement On The Tragic Death Of Mary Habila
I address the tragic and untimely death of Mary Habila with profound sorrow, deep concern, and a resolute commitment to justice.
Mary Habila, a young woman from Jaba Local Government Area, was reportedly a nurse and dedicated physiotherapist who devoted her life to caring for others.
She left home to carry out her professional duties in service to humanity.
Tragically, she never returned. Reports indicate that she was found dead at a residence associated with the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi.
At this painful moment, our foremost responsibility is to uphold the dignity of the deceased and extend compassion to her grieving family.
Mary was more than a professional; she was a daughter, a sister, a colleague, and a valued member of society whose life has been cut short under circumstances that demand urgent clarification.
Human life is sacred. No political interest, public speculation, or partisan consideration should overshadow the fundamental fact that a Nigerian citizen has lost her life.
The pursuit of truth and justice must remain our collective priority.
Let it be clearly stated no one is above the law. No position of authority, no political office, and no level of influence should stand in the way of a transparent search for the truth.
The life of Mary Habila is as valuable as that of every Nigerian citizen, and her family deserves answers.
As the representative of the people of Jaba Constituency, I stand in solidarity with Mary’s family and respectfully call for the following actions:
1. Immediate and Transparent Investigation
The Nigeria Police Force and all relevant security agencies must commence a comprehensive, impartial, and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mary’s death. Every fact must be established, and every lead thoroughly examined.
2. Independent Forensic Autopsy
An independent autopsy conducted by qualified and certified forensic experts should be carried out without delay to determine the exact cause and circumstances of death.
3. Full Accountability and Disclosure
All individuals connected to the premises or events preceding this tragedy must cooperate fully with investigators. No person should be exempt from questioning where relevant to establishing the facts.
4. Justice Without Fear or Favor
The investigation must be guided solely by evidence, professionalism, and the rule of law. Justice must neither be delayed nor denied.
We remain committed to working with relevant authorities, community leaders, civil society organizations, and all stakeholders to ensure that the truth emerges and that justice is pursued to its logical conclusion.
To the family of Mary Habila, we extend our deepest condolences during this period of unimaginable grief. To the people of Jaba Constituency and Nigerians everywhere, I urge calm, restraint, and confidence in lawful processes while we collectively seek answers.
This matter must not be trivialized, politicized, or forgotten. The memory of Mary Habila deserves dignity. Her family deserves truth. Our nation deserves justice.
Justice must be served.
