The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, has warned police officers against extortion and arrest by proxy, insisting that professionalism, discipline and accountability must guide their operations across the state.
Afolabi gave the warning on Monday, October 26, 2026, during a strategic meeting with the Command’s Management Team and Area Commanders, where he issued directives aimed at strengthening supervision, improving security at police formations and enhancing intelligence-led policing.
The commissioner directed that station guards be strengthened to improve security at police stations and other police formations.

He also charged Area Commanders to intensify regular supervision of divisions under their jurisdictions and closely monitor the conduct and performance of officers to ensure effective service delivery.

He further announced that the Command’s X Squad would intensify monitoring of police personnel to ensure compliance with professional standards and accountability.
Afolabi also directed all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to ensure that crime maps were available at their respective formations, while Area Intelligence Officers (AIOs) and Divisional Intelligence Officers (DIOs) were mandated to update the maps daily.
