The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 49-year-old suspected drug dealer, Prince Chukwudi Eguzouwa, during an intelligence-led raid on a criminal hideout at Ahiabubi in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of the state.
Eguzouwa, a resident of Ahiabubi, was arrested on September 18, 2026, by operatives of the Command’s Violent Response Unit and Anti-Cultism Unit following actionable intelligence on criminal activities in the area.
During the operation, the police recovered bags containing substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, “Scottish Loud,” Methamphetamine, Cocaine and other hard drugs from the hideout.
The operation was carried out in line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, on intelligence-led raids aimed at dismantling criminal hideouts across the state.
According to the Command, the operation was also in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police on intelligence-led policing and proactive crime prevention.
The police said the suspect, who was described in the statement as a suspected notorious drug dealer within the community, was apprehended during the coordinated raid.
Following the conclusion of investigations, Eguzouwa was arraigned before a court on September 22, 2026, and subsequently remanded in a correctional facility.
The Commissioner of Police reiterated the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and the sustained crackdown on criminal activities across Abia State.
A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, said the Commissioner warned criminal elements to desist from unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law.
The Command further assured residents that it would continue to take proactive measures to ensure that Abia State does not become a safe haven for criminal activities.
