City Boy Movement Appoints Isaac Balami as National Director on Special Duty
The City Boy Movement has appointed aviation entrepreneur and political mobiliser, Isaac Balami, as a member of its executive board and National Director on Special Duty, in a move expected to strengthen the organisation’s political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Balami’s appointment comes amid heightened political activities and emerging realignments across Nigeria, particularly among youth-driven support groups and political movements.
The aviation entrepreneur, who recently departed the Obidient Movement, has in recent months been actively engaging support groups and political associates in moves towards the All Progressives Congress (APC), fuelling speculation about a broader political crossover ahead of the 2027 elections.
His appointment was formally conveyed by the Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Hon. Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, and the National Secretary, Hon. Tosin Odufuwa, alongside other members of the organisation’s board.
The development was also confirmed by Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Balami Joins Top Decision-Making Body:
The executive board of the City Boy Movement serves as the organisation’s highest decision-making body, with responsibility for setting strategic direction, coordinating major initiatives and overseeing its activities.
Balami’s emergence as a board member is therefore being viewed by supporters as a significant development, particularly given his expanding network among youth organisations, political support groups and grassroots mobilisers across the country.
His new role is expected to place him at the centre of the movement’s efforts to expand its political reach and coordinate mobilisation across different parts of Nigeria.
Particular attention is expected to be paid to the North and Middle Belt, where Balami has established networks of political associates and support groups. His involvement is consequently being seen as a potential boost to efforts aimed at mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Northern Christian Representation:
Balami has also been described by associates as the first Christian from Northern Nigeria to serve on the executive board of the City Boy Movement.
Supporters believe his inclusion could strengthen the organisation’s representation of Nigeria’s diverse ethnic, religious and regional interests, while further broadening its appeal among young Nigerians.
The appointment follows Balami’s increasing involvement in political mobilisation since his reported exit from the Obidient Movement.
Over the past several months, he has been associated with various support groups and political platforms that have been making moves towards the APC as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify.
Yari’s Son Also Joins City Boy Board:
Balami’s appointment was accompanied by another notable addition to the movement’s leadership structure.
The City Boy Movement also appointed Ahmad Abdulaziz Yari, son of former Zamfara State Governor and Director-General of President Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, Governor and Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, as a member of its board.
The two appointments are expected to reinforce the movement’s political structure while expanding its connections with influential youth networks, support groups and political stakeholders across the country.
From Aviation to Political Mobilisation:
Balami has built a profile in Nigeria’s aviation industry while simultaneously becoming increasingly involved in youth mobilisation and political advocacy.
His political activities gained national attention during the 2023 presidential election, when he served as Deputy Campaign Manager of the Obi/Datti campaign organisation.
His subsequent political realignment and growing engagement with APC-oriented support groups have now positioned him as an important figure in the evolving political landscape ahead of 2027.
With his appointment as National Director on Special Duty, Balami is expected to play a central role in the City Boy Movement’s plans to coordinate political mobilisation, strengthen grassroots networks and expand its presence across Nigeria as the country moves 
closer to another major electoral contest.
