Legendary Music Executive Clive Davis Laid To Rest As Music Stars Celebrate Legacy

June 30 () — Music stars, Bruce Springsteen, Alicia Keys, Dionne Warwick, Barry Manilow, Jennifer Hudson and Kenny G, gathered on Monday, June 29, to honour legendary music executive, Clive Davis, at his funeral in New York.

The private service was held at Central Synagogue in Manhattan and celebrated Davis’ lasting impact on the music industry. Other attendees included Stevie Wonder, Ja Rule, former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Hoda Kotb and Gayle King.

Davis died on June 22 at the age of 94 following an age-related illness.

Kenny G performed during the service, while Jennifer Hudson sang Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” and Whitney Houston’s version of “I Will Always Love You”.

Alicia Keys thanked Davis for believing in her, saying, “You saw something in me that I was only just beginning to see in myself.”

Bruce Springsteen also reflected on how Davis changed his life by signing him to Columbia Records.

Davis was a five-time Grammy winner who founded Arista Records and later J Records. He helped launch and shape the careers of artists including Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys and Bruce Springsteen.
