An associate of the deceased also claimed that some of the attackers were dressed in Amotekun Corps camouflage when they allegedly carried out the attack.

However, the Osun Amotekun Corps denied that its personnel had been arrested in connection with the murder.

The Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Idowu, explained that some operatives were handed over to the Police to assist with the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“The Corps Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps handed the operatives over to the Police to assist with the investigation and help unravel the circumstances surrounding the Ile-Ife attack,” Idowu said.

He added that the officers handed over to the Police had previously been attached to the activities of a chieftain of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, before the incident.

Meanwhile, the Osun State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed that arrests had been made but said he could not immediately establish whether Amotekun personnel were among those detained.
