2027: Anyaso Woos Bende Voters, Gets Support Pledges Across 13 Wards
Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr Chima Anyaso, has received assurances of support from community representatives across the 13 wards of Bende Local Government Area of Abia State following a grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Saturday meeting brought together five representatives from each of the 214 polling units in the area, providing a platform for voters to communicate their concerns, expectations and political aspirations directly to the candidate.
Speaking on behalf of their respective communities, representatives from Alayi, Bende, Ugwueke/Ezeukwu, Item A, Item B, Item C, Ozuitem, Uzuakoli, Umuhu Ezechi, Umuimenyi, Igbere A and Igbere B expressed varying degrees of confidence in Anyaso’s ambition, with several pledging to mobilise support for his candidacy.
Chief Titus Okoronkwo, representing Alayi Ward, described the community as united and prepared to support Anyaso, while Uchechi Kalu said residents of Bende Town were ready to rally behind the Labour Party candidate.

Similarly, Chief Ogwo Ogbonnaya of Ugwueke/Ezeukwu Ward and other representatives expressed optimism about the party’s prospects, with some emphasising the need for effective representation that reflects the interests of the people.
At Item A Ward, Sir Chinedu Ogbonnaya criticised what he described as attempts by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to determine the location of a university for the community without adequately addressing residents’ expectations. He maintained that political decisions should reflect the wishes and interests of the people.
In Umuhu Ezechi, Pastor Jude Okorie commended Anyaso for his intervention following a recent police action involving Hon. Emenike Okorie, saying the development had featured in political discussions within the community.
Other speakers, including Ikechukwu Egbuta of Ozuitem, Barr. Chigozie of Uzuakoli, Sir Smart Ikwunze of Umuimenyi and representatives of both Igbere wards, urged residents to support Anyaso’s aspiration to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives.

He also urged the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, to listen to concerns expressed by constituents.
