2027: Abia Labour Party LGA Supervisors Unite to Strengthen Grassroots Structure, Target Overwhelming Electoral Victory
The Abia State Chapter of the Labour Party has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to strengthening the party’s grassroots structures and consolidating its political dominance across the 17 Local Government Areas as preparations gather momentum for the 2027 general elections.
This position was reiterated on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, when the leadership of the Local Government Area (LGA) Supervisors paid a courtesy visit to the State Chairman of the Labour Party, Hon. Peter Azubuike, and members of the State Working Committee (SWC) at the party secretariat in Umuahia.
The delegation was led by the Leader of the Abia State LGA Supervisors, Hon. Nnadozie Christopher Chidozie, and included the Secretary, Deacon Okezie Nwokocha; the Publicity Secretary, Dr. Sunny Oby Maduka; and Supervisors representing all 17 Local Government Areas of Abia State.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Dr. Sunny Oby Maduka said the visit was aimed at formally reaffirming the Supervisors’ loyalty to the Labour Party leadership and expressing their readiness to work closely with the State Working Committee to deepen grassroots mobilisation across the state.
He commended the purposeful leadership of the State Chairman and the State Working Committee, noting that the Labour Party has emerged as the leading political force in Abia State through effective leadership, unity of purpose, and good governance. He also praised Governor Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, for his transformational leadership, stating that the achievements of the present administration have continued to earn Abia State national recognition while significantly strengthening public confidence in the Labour Party.
Also speaking, the Supervisor for Agriculture in Isuikwuato Local Government Area, Dr. Eziada Otuka, assured the party leadership that the Supervisors would remain committed to mobilising support at the grassroots and would spare no effort in working towards the re-election of Governor Alex Otti and the victory of all Labour Party candidates in the 2027 general elections.
In his keynote address, the State Chairman of the Labour Party, Hon. Peter Azubuike, expressed appreciation to the delegation for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of unity, loyalty, and collective commitment to the continued growth of the Labour Party.
He stated that the party’s continued success would depend on the commitment, discipline, and selfless service of every stakeholder, particularly those entrusted with grassroots responsibilities.
The State Chairman reminded the Supervisors that positions of leadership are opportunities to make a lasting impact, stressing that the true measure of leadership lies in the legacy one leaves behind.
He urged them to remain steadfast in promoting the ideals of the Labour Party, defending the achievements of Governor Alex Otti’s administration, and expanding the party’s structures in every ward and community across the state.
Hon. Azubuike further emphasised that, with the 2027 general elections approaching, the party would intensify coordination, consultation, and collaboration with all stakeholders to secure overwhelming electoral victories at every level.
He described the Supervisors’ appointments as a platform for leadership development and encouraged them to distinguish themselves through hard work, loyalty, integrity, and measurable performance. He assured them that the Labour Party recognises commitment and consistently provides greater opportunities for members who demonstrate competence, dedication, and capacity.
The State Chairman also reaffirmed that the State Working Committee remains accessible and fully committed to working closely with the Supervisors in advancing the party’s objectives and sustaining the New Abia vision.
Supporting the Chairman’s remarks, the Deputy State Chairman (Abia South), Dr. Kingsley Nwaobilor, urged the Supervisors to intensify grassroots engagement, expand the party’s membership base, and continue mobilising support across their respective Local Government Areas. He stressed that electoral victory can only be achieved through collective effort, effective grassroots organisation, and sustained engagement with the people.
In his vote of thanks, the Leader of the Abia State LGA Supervisors, Hon. Nnadozie Christopher Chidozie, expressed gratitude to the State Chairman and members of the State Working Committee for the warm reception and invaluable guidance.
He reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Supervisors to the Labour Party and pledged their total support towards ensuring the successful re-election of Governor Alex Otti and the victory of all Labour Party candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The Labour Party in Abia State remains united, focused, and resolute in its determination to consolidate the remarkable achievements of Governor Alex Otti’s administration while strengthening the party as the foremost political platform in the state.
The party therefore calls on all members, elected officials, political appointees, support groups, and the good people of Abia State to remain steadfast, work together in unity, and sustain the momentum that will deliver even greater successes for the Labour Party and the people of Abia State.
Signed
