“Zero Tolerance for Corruption” — Kalu Kalu Agu Unveils His Approach to Governing Abia
Abia Doesn’t Need Endless Agenda, It Needs Honest Use of Public Funds — Kalu Kalu Agu
African Democratic Congress governorship candidate in Abia State, Kalu Kalu Agu, says the state does not need what he described as elaborate political agendas but transparent and responsible application of public resources to the basic needs of the people.

Speaking during a televised interview on Arise TV on his political plans for Abia ahead of the 2027 election, Agu argued that improvements in healthcare, education, roads and other essential services would depend largely on how available public resources are managed.
According to him, his preferred approach to governance would centre on the application of state resources to public needs and what he described as “zero tolerance to corruption.”
“I am not here to disturb Abians with 10-point agenda, 20-point agenda that will be abandoned within the first two or three months,” Agu said during the interview.
He expressed the view that corruption and diversion of public resources remain major obstacles to development in Nigeria and argued that Abia could achieve significantly better outcomes if funds meant for public projects were efficiently deployed.
Agu said hospitals, schools, roads and other critical sectors should receive priority attention, maintaining that the state could become more prosperous if government spending was closely tied to the needs of residents.
His remarks formed part of his explanation of the governing philosophy he intends to present to Abia voters as the ADC candidate in the 2027 governorship election. The ADC has listed Kalu Kalu Agu as its Abia governorship candidate, alongside Alozie Ogadinma Darlington as his running mate.
Agu also used the interview to criticise the current administration, although some of his allegations against Governor Alex Otti and the state government remain disputed.
The Otti administration, for its part, has repeatedly presented fiscal responsibility, infrastructure renewal and human capital development as major areas of achievement during its first three years in office.
Agu’s position nevertheless signals that accountability and the management of public resources will form a central part of the message he intends to take to Abia voters during the 2027 campaign.
