Netflix Announces Cast For Live-Action “Scooby-Doo” Series
Netflix has revealed the main cast for its upcoming live-action series, Scooby-Doo: Origins, which is filming in Atlanta and is set to premiere globally in 2027.
The Mystery Inc. gang will feature Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones, Tanner Hagen as Shaggy Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley, and Mckenna Grace as Daphne Blake. Paul Walter Hauser will also appear in an undisclosed role.
A few additional actors joining the series include Rusty Schwimmer, Peter Macon, and Sara Gilbert, as part of a larger 15-actor ensemble cast. Their exact roles have not been revealed.
The series is described as a modern take on the classic cartoon, following Shaggy and Daphne during their final summer at camp as they get drawn into a mysterious case involving a lost Great Dane puppy. The investigation soon pulls the group, including Velma and Shaggy, into a chilling mystery that uncovers hidden secrets.
Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg are the showrunners and main writers for the series. They will also serve as executive producers, alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Toby Haynes, Leigh London Redman, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Adrienne Erickson. Haynes will also direct the first episode.
The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television, with assistance from Berlanti Productions.
This will be the first time Scooby-Doo is played by a real dog, a detail Netflix revealed earlier this week.
