Former Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, has responded to critics urging her to leave South Africa and relocate to Nigeria as she continues to deal with her ongoing deportation case.
The beauty queen, who was born in Soweto, South Africa, recently engaged with some social media users who criticised her over her past statements, insisting that her words had been taken out of context.
Some critics brought up comments she made during her 2024 visit to Nigeria, where she stated that she was not returning to South Africa. However, Adetshina explained that she was referring to that particular moment and did not mean she would permanently stay away from the country.
During an exchange with one user who told her to “go home” to Nigeria, the former beauty pageant contestant questioned why she should be forced to leave, replying:
“I said I don’t want to… Is it by force?”
Adetshina also pleaded with people to stop adding more pressure to her situation, expressing frustration over the criticism she has faced.
“Stop frustrating my life,” she wrote.
Her response comes amid the legal battle surrounding her residency status, which has continued to attract public attention in both South Africa and Nigeria.
