AHIAORIE IBERE — The Ibere Clan has adopted Dr. Kalu Chukwuemeka Isreal, popularly known as Nkume Asaa, as its consensus candidate for Ikwuano Local Government Constituency seat in Abia State House of Assembly ahead of 2027 general elections.
The adoption followed a popularity vote conducted at a General Meeting of Ibere Clan Stakeholders and Village Union Presidents held on Friday, 30th October, 2026 at Ahiaorie Customary Court Hall, Ahiaorie Ibere.
The meeting was convened by Ibere Clan Development Union Federated (ICDUF), foremost socio-cultural organization of Ibere Clan, to establish a unified stance on two distinguished sons of the clan aspiring for the seat — Chief Clement Onukwuo and Dr. Kalu Chukwuemeka Isreal.
According to a communique issued at the end of the meeting and jointly signed by President General, Mr. Maxwell Otuonye and Secretary General, Mr. Nnanna Robert, the decision was reached after thorough deliberations and listening to manifestos of the two aspirants in a prior meeting.
The communique stated that the popularity vote was conducted in a free, fair, transparent and peaceful manner under the supervision of ICDUF leadership and all stakeholders present.
“At the conclusion of the voting exercise, Dr. Kalu Chukwuemeka Isreal (aka Nkume Asaa) emerged with the majority of votes and is the preferred choice of the people,” it stated.

Consequently, the meeting declared Dr. Israel as the Consensus Candidate of Ibere Clan running under Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to represent Ikwuano State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly.
The Clan called on all sons and daughters of Ibere, both at home and abroad, including all Village Unions, Youth and Women groups, to rally around, support and cast their votes for Dr. Israel to secure the position and provide quality representation.

The Clan also appreciated other aspirants for the spirit of sportsmanship and urged them to join forces with the chosen candidate in the interest of unity and progress of Ibere Clan.
It further extended gratitude to all Village Presidents, Youths, Stakeholders, Traditional Rulers and Elders for the mature conduct and dedication to peace and progress of Ibere Clan.
