Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has spoken about the major differences in how actors are compensated in Hollywood and Nollywood, particularly when it comes to residuals and royalties.
The actress revealed that although her career in Hollywood lasted only about five years, she continues to receive payments from some of the projects she worked on through residuals and royalties.
According to Omotola, the situation is quite different in Nollywood, where she has spent roughly three decades building her career.
She lamented that despite her many years of work in the Nigerian film industry, she has not received similar payments from her previous projects.
Omotola made the disclosure while drawing attention to the contrasting compensation structures in both industries and the financial benefits available to actors after their films have been released.
Her words…
“I’ve only worked in Hollywood for five years, yet I constantly receive envelopes containing my residuals and royalties. I’ve worked in Nollywood for 30 years and have never received a single envelope. Maybe they don’t know where I live.”
