Close to 345 Days In Office, Lagos LCDA Chair Highlights Achievements

The Executive Chairman of Bariga Local Council Development Area, Hon. Adedeji Bukola Omope, says her administration will scale up infrastructure projects, youth empowerment and social intervention programmes as it enters its second year in office.

Speaking on Wednesday during activities marking her first anniversary, Omope reaffirmed her commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy to residents. As part of the anniversary outreach, over 2,000 residents received bags of rice to cushion the impact of the current economic hardship.

The council boss expressed gratitude to residents for their support in the past year, describing the progress recorded so far as a product of partnership between government and the people.

“Today, I stand before you with a heart filled with gratitude to Almighty God and deep appreciation to the good people of Bariga LCDA for the confidence, support and cooperation you have given this administration over the past one year,” she said.

Omope said the administration came in with a promise of transparent and inclusive governance, and that promise has guided its projects across the council.

“From the very first day, our administration resolved that no community would be left behind. Development has reached all the eight wards of Bariga LCDA without discrimination,” she stated.

“We have remained committed to serving every resident irrespective of ethnicity, gender, religion, political affiliation or nationality. Every citizen deserves quality governance, and that has remained the guiding principle of our administration.”

The chairman highlighted investments in road construction, drainage, environmental sanitation, flood control, healthcare upgrades, educational support, youth empowerment, ICT, agriculture, social welfare, security and staff welfare.

She noted that primary healthcare centres were equipped with modern medical facilities, pupils received learning materials, while youths benefited from digital skills training and the distribution of laptops to boost productivity.

Farmers and vulnerable households also received food support, while sporting events were organized to foster unity among young people.

On security, Omope said the council continues to support security agencies with logistics, has installed solar-powered street lights in strategic areas, and maintains regular engagement with community stakeholders.

She added that environmental sustainability remains a priority through routine sanitation, desilting of drainage channels, refuse evacuation and flood prevention measures.

Describing the milestones as collective achievements, the chairman thanked traditional rulers, religious leaders, CDAs, market leaders, youth and women groups, civil servants, political leaders, security agencies and development partners for their support.

“These achievements are not mine alone. They are the result of our collective effort. They belong to every resident who believed in this administration,” Omope said.

The Bariga LCDA chairman assumed office in August 2025 and is marking close to 345 days in office.
