ADC Chieftain urges judiciary to remain neutral in leadership dispute
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Nasarawa State, Comrade Abdullahi Ibrahim Ismael, has expressed concerns over developments surrounding the party’s ongoing leadership dispute.
Speaking with journalists in Lafia on Wednesday, Ismael urged the judiciary to remain impartial in handling cases relating to the party’s internal affairs.
According to him, the faction of the ADC leadership aligned with former Senate President David Mark and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola is confident that its position is supported by existing legal precedents on internal party democracy.
He argued that disputes relating to the internal administration of political parties should be resolved in accordance with relevant provisions of the law and established judicial decisions.
“We are concerned about developments surrounding the ADC leadership dispute and believe that all matters before the courts should be determined strictly in accordance with the law,” he said.
Ismael maintained that the party was confident in its legal position, urging the judiciary to ensure that all matters relating to the leadership dispute are determined strictly in accordance with due process.
“The Supreme Court has spoken, and we are confident that the issues before the court will be resolved based on legal principles and due process,” he stated.

“Opposition parties remain an important part of Nigeria’s democratic process and should be allowed to operate freely within the law,” he said.
He called on all stakeholders to safeguard democratic institutions and strengthen public confidence in the rule of law.
“This matter goes beyond individuals; it is about strengthening democratic institutions and maintaining public confidence in the rule of law,” Ismael said.
He further urged Nigerians to support efforts aimed at protecting democracy and ensuring that the integrity of the electoral process is preserved.
