Edo Govt reaffirms unwavering in Collaboration with inter-Agency in revenue drive collection
The Chief Executive Officer of the Edo State Healthcare Regulation and Monitoring Agency (EDOHERMA), Dr. Adesuwa Urhoghide-Edigin, has paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), Mr. John Odior, to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and promote transparent, technology-driven revenue administration in Edo State.
The meeting focused on enhancing transparency in revenue management, improving Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) payment systems, and fostering closer collaboration between both agencies to support efficient and accountable revenue collection.
Discussions also explored practical strategies for streamlining IGR payments through digital platforms, eliminating cash transactions, and strengthening accountability in line with the Edo State Government’s digital transformation agenda.
Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Urhoghide-Edigin emphasized that transparency, integrity, and accountability must remain the cornerstone of public financial management. She reaffirmed EDOHERMA’s commitment to supporting Governor Monday Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda by ensuring that all statutory revenues generated by the Agency are collected and managed in a transparent and accountable manner.
The EDOHERMA CEO advocated the adoption of a fully cashless revenue collection system, noting that digital payment platforms are essential for improving efficiency, reducing leakages, and strengthening public confidence in government revenue administration.
She disclosed that this vision has been incorporated into the design of the Agency’s digital portal, which is being developed to facilitate end-to-end online payments, automate regulatory processes, and provide real-time monitoring and accountability.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of EIRS, Mr. John Odior, welcomed the EDOHERMA delegation and commended the Agency’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and innovation.
He expressed support for the Agency’s drive towards digital revenue administration and stressed the importance of strengthening compliance among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) with their statutory Internally Generated Revenue obligations.
According to Mr. Odior, improved accountability and adherence to established revenue procedures by MDAs are critical to enhancing Edo State’s revenue performance and ensuring sustainable economic growth.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service to working closely with EDOHERMA and other MDAs in developing efficient, technology-driven revenue collection systems that promote transparency and operational efficiency.
The meeting concluded with both agencies reaffirming their commitment to building a strong institutional partnership anchored on transparency, accountability, digital innovation, and effective collaboration in support of the Edo State Government’s SHINE Agenda and sustainable development objectives.
