Drama as Community Members Reject Ohuabunwa’s Call for Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election
Drama reportedly broke out during a community meeting after former Senator Mao Ohuabunwa urged members to rally behind President Bola Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election, rather than support NDC’s Peter Obi.
Ohuabunwa, who serves as the factional Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction loyal to FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, reportedly made the appeal while addressing members of the community.
According to reports, the former senator argued that the Igbo people had made strategic mistakes in previous presidential elections and should reconsider their approach by uniting behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 contest.
However, the appeal appeared to trigger an immediate backlash, with members of the community openly rejecting his position.

The development highlights the growing political debate within the South-East over the 2027 presidential election, particularly as different political interests intensify efforts to win the support of voters in the region.
The disagreement also underscores the contrasting positions emerging among political leaders and grassroots stakeholders over whether the Igbo electorate should back President Tinubu’s re-election bid or throw its weight behind Peter Obi.
The moment has since attracted attention, with footage from the meeting showing the reaction of community members to Ohuabunwa’s call for support for President Tinubu.
