August 19, () — Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has invited 1,000 foreign nationals to apply for permanent residence through the Express Entry system under the Canadian Experience Class stream.
Official ministerial instructions published by the department show that candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 523 to receive an Invitation to Apply during the August 18 draw.
A tie-breaking rule was applied with a timestamp cutoff of August 17 at 22:09:00 UTC. The rule dictates that among candidates who tied at the lowest score of 523, priority was granted to those who submitted their Express Entry profiles prior to that date and time.
Smaller Selection Volume Drives Score Cut-off Higher

The latest invitation round reflects a tightening selection criteria compared to earlier draws held in August. During an earlier Canadian Experience Class draw on August 5, immigration authorities issued 3,000 invitations with a lower cut-off score of 516 points.
Issuing 1,000 invitations in this round represents one of the smaller, more selective draws for Canadian Experience Class applicants in 2026, pushing the entry score up by seven points.
The Canadian Experience Class targets skilled workers who have already gained at least one year of eligible full-time work experience within Canada across designated professional, managerial, or technical occupations.

Unlike other economic immigration programs managed under Express Entry, applicants under this category do not need to demonstrate proof of settlement funds or meet mandatory educational credential requirements.
Express Entry serves as the federal government’s primary digital portal for selecting foreign professionals across three major economic pathways; the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program.
Profiles inside the pool are ranked automatically based on human capital factors such as age, language proficiency, education, and Canadian work history.
Mid-August data indicates that Canada has issued more than 113,000 invitations to apply for permanent residence across all Express Entry categories in 2026, with candidates possessing domestic work experience continuing to receive a substantial portion of those total offers.
