₦80 Million Is Too Small for a 300-Guest Wedding – Influencer Simi Sanya Explains Why
- Simi Sanya says ₦80 million isn’t enough for a lavish 300-guest wedding, explaining that venue, décor, catering and other expenses quickly drive up costs.
- She also advised couples looking to save money to consider hosting their weddings on the mainland instead of Lagos Island.
Influencer Simi Sanya has stirred reactions online after saying that a budget of ₦80 million is too small for anyone planning a lavish wedding with about 300 guests.
Speaking during an interview, Simi was asked how much people should budget for a luxury wedding. Responding to a previous example of someone spending ₦80 million on a 300-guest ceremony, she said, “It’s small oo.”
She explained that the total cost of a wedding depends on factors such as the venue, decoration, catering, and the couple’s preferences. According to her, weddings on Lagos Island are significantly more expensive than those held on the mainland.
Simi revealed that she held her traditional wedding on Lagos Island, while her white wedding took place on the mainland to save costs. She advised couples looking to reduce expenses to consider hosting their weddings on the mainland or in Ikorodu.
“If you are choosing to do your wedding on the island, just start budgeting ₦10 million and above for hall,” she said.
Speaking on catering, Simi noted that some couples reduce costs by paying per plate, but she chose a different approach.
“Me, I didn’t do that. I wanted people to eat, be filled and be merry.”
She added that every wedding budget depends on the couple’s priorities, noting that decoration alone can cost around ₦5 million.
When asked what she would have done if her husband wasn’t willing to fund her dream wedding, Simi smiled and replied:
“He loves me, so he wants my dream wedding. Anything that makes me happy.”
