Trump Celebrates 80th Birthday With UFC Fight Night At White House
June 15, () — U.S. President Donald Trump celebrated his 80th birthday by hosting an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fight night on the White House lawn.
The event, called “UFC Freedom 250”, took place on Sunday, June 14, and marked the first professional sporting event ever held at the White House.
Trump arrived with UFC President Dana White and watched the fights from ringside alongside First Lady Melania Trump, members of his family, government officials, and celebrity guests.
Following the third fight of the night, the crowd rose to their feet and sang a loud “Happy Birthday” to the president.
The main event saw American fighter Justin Gaethje defeat Spanish-Georgian Ilia Topuria to win the UFC lightweight title.
Thousands of guests attended the event, while many more watched from nearby viewing areas.
A total of 14 fighters competed during the night inside the UFC Octagon, which was set up on the South Lawn beneath a massive steel structure known as “The Claw”.
Among the celebrity guests were boxer Tyson Fury, former baseball star Roger Clemens, and Mark Zuckerberg. Hollywood stars, including Jared Leto, Adam Sandler, and Jason Statham, were also in attendance.
The event was briefly delayed due to weather concerns, but later went ahead as scheduled.
The UFC show was part of celebrations leading up to the United States’ 250th anniversary and added a unique sporting spectacle to Trump’s birthday celebrations.
