Tems Joins Stevie Wonder, John Legend To Perform At Obama Presidential Centre Opening

June 18 () — Nigerian Afrobeats star, Tems, is scheduled to perform at the grand opening ceremony of the Barack Obama Presidential Centre in Chicago on June 18, 2026.

The event will take place at the Centre’s John Lewis Plaza on Chicago’s South Side. It will mark the official opening of the facility, which will serve as a museum, library, educational hub, and community space.

Tems will perform alongside Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, and other global artistes, including Christina Aguilera, Common, Marc Anthony, Eddie Vedder, and U2 members Bono and The Edge. The Roots and Marsai Martin are also part of the lineup.

The Obama Foundation described the ceremony as a celebration of democracy, culture, service, and hope. It will feature performances, speeches, and tributes reflecting the legacy of former U.S. President Barack Obama.

Former First Lady, Michelle Obama, called the project a “full circle moment” for Chicago’s South Side, noting its transformation from an underused area into a major community and cultural landmark.

She said: “It means so much to Barack and me to open up the Obama Presidential Centre on the South Side of Chicago.”

The ceremony will be livestreamed, while the centre will open to the public on June 19, 2026.
