Canal+, Samsung Expand Partnership With New DStv Streaming Deal
June 22 () — French media giant Canal+ and Samsung Electronics have expanded their partnership to pre-install the DStv Stream app on new Samsung Smart TVs in Africa.
The rollout was announced on 22 June 2026 and will cover 18 countries across English and Portuguese-speaking markets, including South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Angola, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The app will appear directly on the home screen of new Samsung Smart TVs, allowing users to access and stream content without needing a separate decoder.
MultiChoice Group said the change will make it easier for customers to access streaming services. The DStv Stream platform will offer live sports, local programmes, and international entertainment.
The partnership also improves access to major sports events, including the FIFA World Cup 2026 and the English Premier League.

The companies said the aim is to make streaming simpler and reduce reliance on traditional satellite dish setups in new homes.
The pre-installed app will feature exclusively on newly released 2026 Samsung Smart TV models in the 18 countries included in the rollout.
The deal follows Canal+’s acquisition of MultiChoice and marks a new step in the companies’ push into digital streaming across Africa.
