“No apologies, zero regrets” – Sheikh Jingir rejects calls to apologise over Muslim/Muslim stance
- Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir has rejected calls for an apology over his support for a Muslim/Muslim political arrangement, declaring that he has “No apologies, zero regrets” about his position.
- Jingir reportedly maintained that he had no regrets about his position, insisting that he would continue to express his preference wherever he had the opportunity.

Islamic cleric and National Chairman of the Council of Ulama of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Ikamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir, has rejected calls for him to apologise over his continued support for a Muslim/Muslim political ticket.
Jingir reportedly maintained that he had no regrets about his position, insisting that he would continue to express his preference wherever he had the opportunity.
“No apologies, zero regrets for what I said. I’ll keep saying it anywhere Muslim/Muslim is my choice.”
The cleric has previously publicly defended the Muslim/Muslim arrangement involving President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima. In 2025, he argued that those who supported the ticket voted for both politicians together, rather than separately.
Jingir, who remains an influential figure within JIBWIS, has also continued to participate in national discussions involving politics and religion. In 2026, reports quoted him as saying his group would support Tinubu for a second term, provided the president does not betray Nigerians.
His latest position has triggered reactions online, with some Nigerians criticising his stance while others questioned why religious leaders have not spoken more openly about the controversy.
