NGX Closes Flat as Market Cap Dips Marginally to N163.66tn

  • The NGX All-Share Index slipped 0.01 percent to 252,113.41 points, losing 36.60 points from its opening level of 252,150.01.

  • Market capitalisation declined marginally by N24 billion, from N163.679 trillion at the open to N163.655 trillion at the close.

  • Market breadth remained positive, with 39 gainers against 27 decliners, led by ZICHIS, which surged 10.00 percent.

September 25, () – The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) closed Friday’s trading session marginally lower, as market capitalisation slipped N24 billion from N163.679 trillion at the open to N163.655 trillion at the close.

The All-Share Index (ASI) also declined slightly by 36.60 points, opening at 252,150.01 and closing at 252,113.41, representing a 0.01 percent decline.

Despite the marginal drop in the benchmark index, market breadth remained positive, with 39 gainers against 27 decliners.

On the gainers’ chart;

  1. ZICHIS surged 10.00 percent (N16.00 to N17.60).
  2. CMFC rallied 9.76 percent (N2.97 to N3.26).
  3. RTBRISCOE jumped 9.74 percent (N9.75 to N10.70).
  4. ABCTRANS climbed 9.68 percent (N4.65 to N5.10).
  5. ROYALEX advanced 9.09 percent (N0.99 to N1.08).

NGX

On the decliners’ side;

  1. TOTAL plunged 10.00 percent (N576.00 to N518.40).
  2. LEGENDINT tumbled 9.09 percent (N3.85 to N3.50).
  3. HMCALL sank 8.54 percent (N3.28 to N3.00).
  4. CAVERTON slumped 8.05 percent (N4.35 to N4.00).
  5. FIRSTHOLDCO shed 5.09 percent (N165.00 to N156.60).

Stocks that closed flat included Dangote Cement, Custodian Investment, Livestock Feeds, Julius Berger, and Union Dicon Salt, among others.

The marginal decline in the ASI came despite positive market breadth, indicating that gains across more stocks were insufficient to offset losses in selected counters.
