The election, held at the organisation’s International Secretariat, Sir Udo Udoma House, Uyo, drew over 300 delegates from Mboho chapters across the world and has been described by stakeholders as one of the most transparent, peaceful and credible electoral exercises in the history of the organisation.
Ekanem will lead the new executive council for the next four years alongside Akparawa Jimaimah Essien, who was elected Vice President I, and Akparawa Fiokidaha Umoh, elected Vice President II.
Other members of the executive council include Akparawa John Offiong as Secretary General, Akparawa-Anwan Eme Sambo as Deputy Secretary General, Akparawa Idongesit Ikono as Public Relations Officer, Akparawa Essien Essien as Treasurer, Akparawa Victor Edet as Financial Secretary, Akparawa Augustine Udoh as Auditor, Akparawa Stephen Abia as Legal Adviser, Akparawa-Anwan Alice Udoh as Women Leader, Akparawa Asuquo Umoh as Welfare Officer and Akparawa Emmanuel Ekpa as Provost.
Speaking after the election, the outgoing International President, Akparawa James Edet, NPOM, commended the Electoral Committee, chaired by Professor Sylvester Akpan, for conducting what he described as a free, fair and credible poll.
Edet also praised members of the organisation for demonstrating commitment to peace, unity and democratic principles throughout the electoral process.
He urged the newly elected officers to remain focused on advancing the objectives of the organisation and strengthening the position of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio and the Ibibio ethnic nationality as a respected voice within Nigeria and beyond.
The newly elected executive council is scheduled to be inaugurated on July 24, 2026, and will serve a four-year term.
