Married Woman Recounts How She Was Expelled From NYSC Camp Over Alleged Sex Scandal

A married woman who was at the centre of a viral sexual scandal during her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme has opened up about the incident, alleging that she was deliberately set up with AI-generated photos and videos.

According to the woman, the incident occurred in 2022 when she was serving in Ekiti State. She said the trouble began after she became friends with a male corps member she met at the NYSC orientation camp.

She explained that although she was friendly and enjoyed interacting with people, she turned down the man’s romantic advances after he expressed interest in dating her.

The woman said the man initially appeared to be genuinely interested in being her friend and frequently offered to assist her.

“Anywhere I am, I was seen there. If I want to buy something, he’s there paying for me,” she recalled.

She said he also began sharing personal details about his relationships and visiting her hostel regularly.

“He started opening up to me, telling me about his relationships. His intentions were to get close to me,” she said.

According to her, she initially interpreted his actions as simple friendship and even felt sympathy for him because of the personal problems he discussed with her.

However, everything changed when he eventually asked her to become his girlfriend.

“One day, he asked me to date him. I politely turned this guy down. I told him I’m a married woman,” she said.

She alleged that the man reacted angrily to the rejection and questioned why she was not wearing her wedding ring.

“He didn’t take it lightly. He got angry. If you’re married, he said, why don’t you wear your wedding ring? He didn’t really believe me,” she recalled.

Following the incident, the woman said she decided to end their friendship completely.

“I stopped talking to him. I stopped being his friend. I stopped picking his call,” she said.

However, she alleged that his behaviour became more persistent after she cut him off.

“Then this guy got so obsessed with me. Everywhere I turn, he’s there,” she alleged.

She said she later discovered that he would regularly stand outside the window of her hostel, raising concerns among her roommates.

“That’s when I started realising that this guy was always standing outside my window. My roommates were worried. They weren’t comfortable with him anymore,” she said.

Eventually, she agreed to have a conversation with him to explain why she no longer wanted to maintain the friendship.

During the discussion, however, she alleged that the man unexpectedly hugged her.

“This guy hugged me. It came as a shock. I didn’t see it coming,” she said.

She claimed that while she was attempting to push him away, some other men appeared and began taking pictures and recording videos of them.

“In the process of me trying to push him away, some other guys came and snapped us. They took pictures of us and videos of us,” she alleged.

She later suspected that the men were friends of the man she had rejected.

According to her, the situation became even more serious that night when she received a photograph that appeared to show her kissing the man.

“They sent me a picture of I and him kissing. Conveniently, his face was not showing. He used AI,” she alleged.

She said another video was subsequently sent to her while she was still trying to understand what was happening.

“While I was still processing what was going on, he sent a video of us kissing. AI videos,” she said.

The woman alleged that the man then threatened to use the materials against her.

“He called me on the phone and said, ‘If I have you, I will send you out of this camp,’” she claimed.

She said she attempted to reach her husband that night but could not get through to him.

“I tried calling my husband that evening, but his number wasn’t moving through,” she said.

The following morning, she decided to report the matter to the camp coordinator. However, she said she was shocked to discover that the authorities had already received allegations against her.

“By morning, when I woke up, the first message I got on my phone was a query from my camp coordinator,” she recalled.

She said the query accused her of being caught having sex with another person at the camp.

“They asked me to give a written reply to the allegations that I was caught with someone last night having sex,” she said.

According to her, she was given just one hour to provide a response.

“I was shocked. They gave me one hour to reply this message,” she said.

She eventually submitted her explanation and was later summoned before a disciplinary panel at the orientation camp.

The panel, according to her, included the camp director, camp commandant, security personnel, platoon leaders and a lawyer assigned to represent her.

She said the man she accused of orchestrating the alleged setup was also brought before the panel as a witness.

“They brought in witnesses. Guess who was the witness? This guy,” she said.

The woman claimed that the lawyer assigned to her believed her side of the story but was unable to do much because of the circumstances surrounding the disciplinary process.

“The lawyer that was assigned to me believed my case, that I was innocent. But they’re still corps members and she couldn’t really defend me,” she said.

Despite her explanation, she said she was disciplined and asked to leave the orientation camp.

However, she said the matter did not end there, as NYSC officials eventually contacted her husband and informed him about the allegations.

“They didn’t even let me inform him myself. They called my husband and informed him,” she said.

She recalled that her husband later contacted her and asked whether the alleged incident had actually happened.

“My husband called me on the phone and asked me one question. ‘Did you do it?’ And I said no,” she recalled.

According to her, her husband’s response became a major source of strength during the ordeal.

“And he said, ‘I believe you.’ That was everything I needed to hear,” she said.

“That was what gave me the strength to fight my case,” she added.

The woman said her husband subsequently hired a lawyer and took the matter to the NYSC Director-General in Abuja, leading to the reopening of the case.

“My husband took a lawyer. We transferred our case to the Director-General in Abuja and he reopened the case,” she said.

She said a technology team was then brought in to investigate the authenticity of the images and videos that had been presented as evidence against her.

“After I was disgraced, we got a good tech team that helped us to trace the authenticity of the video,” she explained.

According to her, the technical assessment allegedly indicated that the materials had been manipulated using artificial intelligence.

“Immediately they put these videos and pictures in, it showed 98 per cent AI,” she claimed.

Following the findings, she said NYSC officials apologised to her and permitted her to resume her service.

“The NYSC officials apologised to me and I was asked to continue my service,” she said.

Despite the resolution, the woman said she remained unhappy with the punishment given to the man she accused of framing her.

“The painful part of all of this was the guy that set me up was not punished satisfactorily,” she said.

“They only gave him one month extension. Just one month,” she added.

Looking back on the experience, the woman said the ordeal taught her valuable lessons about setting boundaries and being cautious in relationships.

She particularly advised married women to be careful about accepting gifts or becoming too close to members of the opposite sex.

“The point of this story is be careful who you receive gifts from, especially married women,” she warned.

She further advised, “Some people can go under rejection. So it’s better not to even get yourself involved with friends of the opposite sex because most times it doesn’t really end well.”

The woman also expressed appreciation for her husband, saying his trust and support played a major role in helping her overcome the difficult experience.

“I’m so fortunate that I have a husband that believes in me and trusts me. Otherwise my case would have been sorry,” she said.
