INEC’s Attempted Setback Increased Our Popularity, Supporters – Gwarzo

INEC reinstated Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo as the NDC governorship candidate in Kano State ahead of the 2027 elections.

Gwarzo’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, said the party was never worried about the initial omission because it followed all electoral procedures.

Shuaibu claimed the controversy had increased the NDC’s popularity, attracted more supporters and strengthened public identification with the party.

He said the party would sustain its mobilisation efforts and campaign activities across Kano State, expressing confidence in its chances in the 2027 governorship election.

October 30, () – Spokesperson to Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, the NDC governorship candidate in Kano State, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, says the controversy surrounding the omission and subsequent Gwarzo’s reinstatement by INEC, has strengthened the party’s popularity, rather than weaken its prospects ahead of the 2027 elections.

Reacting to the restoration of the candidate’s name by the commission, Shuaibu said the party was never alarmed by the earlier development, as it was convinced that all electoral requirements had been met by the NDC governorship candidate.

According to him, the decision did not come to the party as a surprise, as party members viewed the omission as a temporary setback that would eventually be corrected.
