Gov. Eno Swears In New Akwa Ibom State Statistician-General

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has sworn in Mr. Uduak Effiong Isaac as the new Statistician-General of the state. He charged him with the responsibility of properly managing and coordinating the state’s statistical data to support development.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the State Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Uyo, before the State Executive Council meeting began.

Governor Eno said he was pleased with the appointment of Mr. Isaac. He explained that he wanted a competent statistician who would not only prepare accurate statistical reports but also explain and defend the figures whenever necessary.

He said the achievements of his administration under the ARISE Agenda must be properly recorded with accurate statistics. He directed the new Statistician-General to provide him with a monthly report on the state’s progress and development.

The Governor also said that Mr. Isaac will continue to serve as the Permanent Secretary for Human Capital Development while carrying out his new responsibilities.

Governor Eno recalled that Mr. Isaac’s work in documenting the state’s achievements in human capital development contributed to the visit of Vice President Kashim Shettima in 2025 to launch the second phase of the Federal Government’s National Human Capital Development (HCD) programme. During that event, Akwa Ibom was ranked as the best-performing state in the country.

He said the appointment was based on Mr. Isaac’s proven competence and expressed confidence that he would perform well in his new role.

The Governor also called on all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to cooperate fully with the new Statistician-General so that he can successfully carry out his duties.

Speaking to journalists after the ceremony, Mr. Isaac thanked Governor Eno for the confidence placed in him. He promised to serve with diligence, professionalism, and integrity.

He also pledged to work closely with all relevant stakeholders to produce accurate, reliable, and credible data that will truly reflect the current situation and development of Akwa Ibom State.
