Abia Police, Security Agencies Strengthen Ties Ahead of Elections.
The Abia State Police Command has organised a Unity Fitness Walk involving sister security agencies and other stakeholders in Umuahia as part of efforts to strengthen inter-agency cooperation and enhance security preparedness ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The exercise, held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, commenced at the Police Headquarters, Umuahia, with the participation of personnel from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigerian Red Cross Society, Fire Service and Forest Guard.

Also participating in the exercise was the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Sports, Comrade Onyebuchi Chukwu.
Speaking during the event, the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, said the fitness walk was organised to promote unity, physical fitness and effective collaboration among security agencies in the state.
Afolabi explained that the initiative was also aimed at strengthening synergy and operational readiness among the participating agencies ahead of the forthcoming elections to ensure a coordinated approach to maintaining peace, law and order across the state.
He noted that the participation of the various security agencies and stakeholders demonstrated their collective commitment to protecting lives and property, as well as promoting a healthy and resilient workforce.
The police commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining partnerships with sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders to enhance public safety, strengthen community trust and ensure lasting peace in Abia State.
